Shipwrights and Boat Builders are becoming a vary rare trade throughout Australia and internationally.
Chris and Juliet recognise this and like to make a contribution to the industry by employing and training apprentices.
David Blank, Boat Builder
David Blank applied for an advertised position with CJH Yachts in December 2005. The position was originally for a school based apprenticeship. After a weeks work experience,
Chris and Juliet could see that David was the right person for the job and were prepared to commit a bit more permanently and offered David a full time position which he accepted.
David has proven to be a hard working and loyal employee and with his own passion for boating and fishing. Davids enthusiasm in the industry has shown through and has helped David become an excellent Boat Builder. He has had a huge varitey of experience during his time with CJH Yachts and was also a big part of the designing and fine tuning of the CJH 26' Sportfisher.
In 2009 CJH Yachts and the TAFE staff in Brisbane "fast tracked" David to complete his apprenticeship.
With his obvious sound knowledge and excellent college results he was nominated for apprentice of year which he only narrowly missed out on.
David is now one of our well respected Senior crew at CJH Yachts.
Jay Prentice, 3rd Year Apprentice
Jay Prentice applied for his apprenticeship with CJH Yachts in December 2008 after completing his High School Certificate. Jay was the successful applicant that year, competing with several other keen young guys.
Jay came to us highly recommended by his previous employers who had worked with for several years during High School and he was also recommended by his High School Head of Senoir School.
Jay has now complete 2 out of the 3 blocks of Tech at Brisbane TAFE and is now into his 3rd year of his apprenticeship. It makes us proud whent the teachers at TAFE prasie us for the quality of apprentices that we have sent to them, congratulating us on both ability and manners. Not long to go now Jay!
